Entry Requirements:

You’ll need the following or equivalents:

  • a degree (2:2 or above) 
  • grade 4 (C) or above in English Language, Maths and Science GCSEs
  • If you do not have GCSE grade 4 (C) in one or more of the subjects above and are successful in your application with Mersey Boroughs ITT Partnership, you will need to successfully complete an equivalence test as part of your conditional offer prior to the course start date. 
  • International applicants will need to have documentary proof of settled status and that their qualifications are equivalent to above. Refer to ENIC for further information https://www.enic.org.uk/

How to Apply:

Once you have decided that you want to train to become a teacher and have the necessary qualifications, you can apply for our Primary teacher training course via DfE Apply.

You will need to:

  • Search for our course using the find teacher training tool: https://www.find-postgraduate-teacher-training.service.gov.uk/You can find us by searching for Mersey Boroughs ITT Partnership, postcode L35 5DN or by our provider code 1X8
  • Select our teacher training course, using course code 2DFY
  • Applicants should make themselves fully conversant with our Trainee Teacher Person Specification 
  • Write a personal statement taking into account your suitability for the teaching profession as outlined in the person specification
  • Organise two references – which will be requested if you are offered and accept a place on our course

Note – Ensure that the people you have chosen to provide references are from different sources (i.e. not two from the same University/ school/ place of employment. The referees you choose must be able to

  • Confirm and establish that you are safe to work with children
  • Validate their relationship with you stated within your application
  • References should be supplied using a professional email address where possible

    (from 10th October 2023 for our 2024/25 cohort)
